Linocut is a type of relief printmaking using a linoleum block that is made of linseed oil, wood flour, and held together with a jute backing. The image is carved by hand with carving tools which is then ready for a layer of relief ink to be transferred onto paper. This is how a hand-carved print is made.

There are many tools that can be used for this process. I used Pfeil brand carving tools in various sizes and shapes.

I like to use thin Japanese papers such as Awagami Kozo. In addition to Japanese papers, I also print on Somerset Satin papers sourced from the UK. Thin paper allows an easier transfer which helps capture those smaller details. I use Cranfield Calico safe wash relief inks vs traditional inks. This allows the use of zero solvents when cleaning my block and brayer.

Before purchasing, please note that I do not use plastic in my shipping materials. Each print is carefully wrapped in acid-free glassine paper, sandwiched between sturdy cardboard, and placed inside a rigid mailer, or shipping tube inside a custom box for extra protection. If you do not have any covered areas at your location, please ensure this before your print arrives.

No, unfortunately. Due to the nature of my work involving the hand-printing aspect and the limited number of prints—my work is not for wholesale.
